The utter rot in the Labor Party is so disheartening.

If anyone had any doubt about the status of the Labor Party in New South Wales as a credible force for good in our state, I for one hold no doubts any more that they are not. The popularly elected New South Wales former leader Jodi McKay has been forced to resign, not because she had lost the support of the rank and file members (which she actually won in a ballot in 2019), but because a small but powerful faction within the Parliamentary Labour Party are more loyal to their factions and their factional warlords than they are to the labour cause in any real way, shape or form. She was unable to fill the shadow cabinet because the number required did not stand up to the job. All of the political commentators put it down to her and Labor’s performance in the Hunter by-election but this is nothing more than a ‘smoke and mirror’ deflection from the real truth. Let me remind my readers that the combined Two major party vote was barely 52% in total, and I submit that no one actually won that seat with any great support. The simple fact of the matter is this; the vote of the two major parties are haemorrhaging, and the time for a real third force is building some momentum.

For those who posit that my views are merely conjecture, I invite you to view what was broadcast on Monday night on the ABC’s four corners. This program chronicled just how rotten the Labor Party has become in New South Wales. We know how rotten the LNP are putting policy up that suits only their political donors, but we expect much better from the Labor Party.

Four Corners exposed the level of ‘connections’ James Packer required to get his beloved Crown Casino approved and built on mostly public land in Barangaroo. Thanks to his LNP mates such as the then Premier Barry O'Farrell, Packer went about his project with no tender process, no open and transparent application to government and no community consultation, but rather an ‘unsolicited development proposal’ which bypassed all minimal checks and balances. Mr. Packer succeeded in his plans by engaging the paid services of people like Mr. Mark Arbib and Mr. Karl Bitar (both on his payroll) , both former secretaries of the NSW Labor party and protégés of one Mr. Eddie Obeid. Who better to carry out your dirty work than those who are largely responsible for each of those members occupying those electorates, in other words they are wholly ‘indebted’ to the likes of Bitar and Arbib. Where is Barry O'Farrell now? Man who couldn't remember getting a gifted bottle of Grange ... well he's now our High Commissioner to India, and that other piece of work aiding and abetting this was Mr. Arthur Sinodinos, now our Ambassador in the US. Some cushy jobs for the 'boy's' who know how to 'help a mate' and fine representatives representing our country !!

Politics in Australia is no longer an exchange of ideas, ideals and concepts but rather a competition of who can control and dominate the public agenda. This is usually controlled by remote at the hands of media moguls or factional warlords, those thirsty for power ‘at any cost’ and usually driven by their own personal pecuniary interests and if you think this is limited to NSW then you live in Lala land. Federally, it is my prediction that Labor is poised to spend a few election cycles away from the government benches, and for very good reason, nearly all of their members are 'former have been's' with no originality or ability to capture the minds and hearts of Australians of the 21st century. Labor is shut out, not because the LNP deserve to govern, quite the contrary, primarily because there is no effective opposition. Mr Albanese is a Labor hack and machine man. He brings nothing unique or interesting or even defining from the pale government we have.

I predict more and more people will move towards independents and minor parties causing more hung parliaments; not such a bad thing in the long run, but, only a real third force has the ability of shaking the political class out of their comfortable positions.
