THE GREAT GOVERNMENT RIP-OFF

Latest installment from the Federal Court of Australia

"Bunch of MONKEYS"

My Blog FEED

September 30, 2015

Our government is doing all manner of things 'in our name' that are quite simply, reprehensible.

I was asked by a very good friend of mine recently a question that perhaps many Australians are asking themselves : When did it become Australia's responibility to take care of the world's refugees"?  I answered ever since WE were the architects and protagonists of an international ground breaking document called 'The Universal Declaration of Human Rights'.

It seems there is no shortage of 'commentators' on political affairs in Australia that have forgotten or have amnesia when it comes to why certain things/actions/laws are unsustainable.  If we had a TV series called "Great Australians"one Doc Evatt would feature prominently.  Through his great leadership Australia was a founding member of the UN and played a prominent role in the negotiation of the UN Charter in 1945.  Australia was also one of eight nations involved in drafting the Universal Declaration.

The Australian Human Rights website says this is because of :"The influential leadership of Dr Herbert Vere Evatt, the head of Australia’s delegation to the UN. In 1948, Dr HV Evatt became President of the UN General Assembly. That same year he oversaw the adoption of the Universal Declaration."

How quickly and easily the MSM has buried this most important fact of Australia and its contribution to world affairs.  Think how refugees are treated now when arriving at Australia's shores un-announced seeking our assylum? Or maybe the hundreds of innocent children that are held in appalling "refugee centres offshore" or perhaps those who have actually lost their lives or minds being locked up in these ''CONCENTRATION CAMPS"  lets call them exactly what they are !!

How did we ever end up in such a state with a nation built by immigrants? I say it must be the ethos of:

"we pinched this country of someone,  and we wanna make          sure no one pinches it off us."

That's what all the empty rhetoric in Australian politicial speak amounts to.  The political class can't even bring themselves to the task of 'closing the gap' on Aboriginal inequality in Modern Day Australia let alone adequately care for those seeking our assistance.  Yes,  Australia has become a greedy nation totally consumed by self-obsession and self-importance,  look no further than our love of sports and international sporting titles.

I was Chairman of the ECC of NSW and Deputy of FECCA when I pointed out to the MSM when the TAMPA sailed into Australian waters in 2001 with a few hundred stranded refugees,  Australia by that date DID NOT FILL ITS HUMANITARIAN QUOTA OF 12,000 as the tally was at 9960 "unauthorised arrivals of illegals" as Mr. Howard liked to call them.  Did anyone pick up on this fact?  Has anyone since? No, because the PM and his Ministers were successful in labelling them "illegals" and "economic refugees" in the 1990's and the titles stuck ever since.

I just like reminding all those wealthy children of Eurpoean post-war migrants that all our parents came here as "illegals" and "economic refugees" and arn't they lucky their parents/grandparents made those voyages.

You'd think they would be grateful and extend the same courtesy to others?  Maybe not.

Why vote independent?

Good question,  believe it or not,  independents bring common sense and necessary amendments to what would otherwise be harsh or unsupported legislation.  Independents are not governed by the special interests of the large donors of the major political parties.  The hardest job is for an independent to win a seat in Parliament, but when they do and manage to hold the balance of power,  they hold whichever government to account for their policies.

History always judges their contribution well,  look at such fine members as Ted Mack,  Tony Windsor and the current Sen. Nick Xenephon.
Australian's traditionally gave the balance of power to the Australian Democrats,  but since the Federal party imploded there has not been the leadership to restore it back to its credible past.

Sal,  a man of the people.

Anyone who has met Sal or been at one of the services he has conducted as a Commonwealth Registered Civil Celebrant will know his passion for life,  truth  and the (fair go) Australian way. With a background in Theology & Philosophy,  and recently completing a law degree,  Sal can "talk the leg off a chair" but you will be surprised just how much he knows.

He's worked in many fields (in other words,  had real jobs) and represented the community at many levels.  He's a no nonsense, straight to the point sort of guy,  that gets to the heart of the issues at play.

When Sal became Chairman of the ECC of NSW the Federation FECCA was deeply fractious.  Three of seven States/Territories were not participating  in the overall Peak Body.  Sal was the peacemaker that brought FECCA together again.

He was never thanked for his untiring effort or success in that mission,  but rather because he spoke out about the appalling treatment of Refugees he was 'removed' from office,  he'd already decided the organisation was becoming redundant anyway.

Why Australia NEEDS a constitutionally entrenched Bill of Rights.

28 April 2018

In short,  because we cannot trust our politicians on both sides any longer.  Little by little under the guise of 'protecting Australia and Australians from terrorism and foreign influence' our main political parties have forgotten,  or worse, abrogated their responsibilities to us.  Little by little governments of both colours have (and are) chipping away at the very freedoms so many decent and gallant Australians fought so hard and ultimately died for.

I say 'under the guise of terrorism' because by making Australians 'fearful' of the future,  they are implementing public policy on the run to play into the very hands of these so called "terrorists".

If we fall into the error of enacting reactionary legislation like that which has been recently floated in the Commonwealth Parliament by the current government with the support of the opposition, such as the 'Foreign Transparency Bill 2018',  we will be committing a very grave error.

Governments are supposed to protect citizens freedoms not find ways to eliminate them.  Because we have a totally compliant mainstream media which likes to entrench the status quo of a 'two party system',  people are being conned into believing if the the government is bad the opposition will hold them to account.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Under that proposed legislation I spoke of,  an individual in a private phone conversation with something as innocuous as a relative or friend talking about the state of politics in our nation (or abroad),  could easily fall foul of the law and face up to 7 years in jail if they do not self-register as a political lobbyist,  at a fee.

Unfortunately the mainstream media has been highly negligent in not bringing the full potential effect of this legislation to the attention of the voting public,  for obvious (agenda driven) reasons.

We live in new and troubling times in which seeking out the 'truth' of any one given situation is as difficult as finding a needle in a hay stack.  This is because so much of what used to be investigative journalism is now being substituted by opinion of so called 'experts' trying to tell us what's good for us.

Australian's have always had a healthy distrust of our main political parties,  this is evidenced by the fact that for most of the last 40 years no government or opposition has held the numbers in both houses of Parliament resulting in what is known as the 'balance of power' structure ensuring a vital role for the minor parties and independents in holding the government of the day to account.  For most of the 70's, 80's and 90's this was done by the Australian Democrats under the watchful eye of the (late) great Don Chipp who founded the Australian Democrats with the ethos of "keeping the bastards honest".

Since the demise of that great party at the hands of one of its last leaders Meg Lees (for good reason in breaking an election pledge on the GST) our Parliament has been somewhat bereft of cogent and erudite leaders able to follow in the big shoes of Don Chipp.

If the Australian Democrats (or an outfit of similar ilk) could recapture this essential role once again,  maybe,  just maybe we could have a result similar to that in Italy at the moment with an anti-establishment movement called "Five Star".  Five Star stunningly snatched almost 33% of the votes in recent March national elections in that country forcing the 3 major parties into a position to have to undertake major change so sorely urged by the electorate. One can only live in hope.

One thing is for certain,  Australia NEEDS a constitutionally entrenched Bill of Rights enshrining he basic minimal rights of:

1. Right to life.

2. Right to liberty.

3. Right to freedom of speech,  expression and creativity.

4. Right to association.

5. Right to privacy.

6. Right to private property (from government regulation tantamount to an acquisition)

7. Right to protest.

8. Right to encryption.

9. Right against mass surveillance.

10. Right to the presumption of innocence.

These are just 10 Rights I would pursue as ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY,  there are many others,  but we MUST ensure we get these Rights attached to our constitution ASAP before 'Big Brother Government' with the help of their appointed judges act as judges,  juries and executioners of whatever little Rights we have left.  None of these 10 'Rights' are currently protected under our domestic laws and ALL are contained in international declarations to which Australia is a party.

Making such a Bill of Rights unambiguously constitutionally entrenched will tie the hands of ALL politicians and judges from any attempt to diminish,  reduce or do away with our rights once and for all.

Please raise this issue with your local member as a matter of urgency.
