China should not be used as Australia's Piggy Bank when it comes to our National Interest.

It seems the Australian Government is having some troubles with our largest trading partner, China. Our Government has conceded that it has not had any high level bi-lateral discussions with China for well over 18 months, this should be a great cause for concern for all Australians. China has now blocked our coal, copper ore, barley, wine, seafood and sugar exports. This will have a massive impact on the Australian economy in the next couple rounds of economic data yet to be released.
It is a fact that we like to treat China as our own little bank, this was a point I took up with the ABC some years ago when I could tell all of their 'business updates and economic reports' only really carried economic data about China. I pointed out that this is not China (yet) but if we continue to allow foreign nationals to buy into our domestic real estate market and artificially increase the demand on locals, it may well turn into a little China. Thankfully, Covid-19 has blocked international travel and migration to Australia and as a result we are now experiencing a locally driven economy with a better focus on Australians.
Unlike most Aussies, I have been to China several times and let me tell you, that nation is out performing all national economies including the worlds largest, the US. They managed to contain their own outbreak of the virus and life has pretty much gone back to normal in most China, the same cannot be said for the rest of the world. Look how much of a disaster Donald Junk was in world affairs. Australia didn't say boo to him when he unilaterally pulled out of most bi-lateral and multilateral trade agreements upon taking office in 2016, and now when China say's it is not honouring such agreements, Australia threatens to take China to the WTO for 'breaching it's agreements', what a double standard.
We need our Government to engage with China as a respected trading partner. There needs to be a more nuanced relationship built on mutual trust and NOT distrust as so many shameful racists Aussies continue to regurgitate their unfounded racist sentiments. I like how some try to dress their racism up as 'caring for humanity ... or democracy ... or freedoms ...' when it comes to China, nothing could be further from the truth. I see right through the thin facades to the disgusting substance that lies beneath.
No, China will continue to assert itself in it's own national interest, we on the other hand, really have no idea what is encapsulated when our government says certain actions are 'not within our national interest' mainly because we simply play second fiddle to our big brothers, the United States of America and the United Kingdom who we blindly follow into all of their unwarranted and illegal wars and effectively tell us what we can and can't do.
I'd like to see a republican Australia that has the gumption and moral fortitude to run its own race, with our own head of State. I live with the hope that future generations will understand how disjointed and rudderless we actually are with this handicap of being a surrogate nation. I look forward to the day when Australia speaks for itself and NOT OTHERS !!
